“We can be very responsible, follow all guidelines, and still save our economy from failing.”
“Telling New Mexicans ‘we’ll ‘take a look at it’ after three more weeks of shutdown is not a plan.”

JAL — Senator Gregg Fulfer has notified Governor Lujan Grisham that it’s time to re-open New Mexico’s economy.
“Understand, I am not in any way advocating anything unsafe. On the contrary, we can definitely have our small businesses operate under the same conditions that Walmart operates under and that grocery stores operate under.
“It’s wrong, and in fact it makes no sense at all, to bankrupt small businesses while protecting only the largest corporations. We can bring back New Mexico’s economy while acting responsibly and safely.”
Fulfer wrote to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham today.
“A one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t make sense. More than 2,200 cases in New Mexico, and 91 of the 100 fatalities have occurred in just four counties in the northwest. But look at southeastern New Mexico. We have had a grand total of 23 cases in Eddy & Lea Counties. Sadly, one person has died. But our geographic and social distancing dynamics are very different here. We need to have a policy that matches reality. Telling New Mexicans ‘we’ll take a look at’ after three more weeks of shutdown is not a plan.”
“We can work together to develop a comprehensive plan, one that maximizes all safety considerations and procedures, and which allows businesses to re-open in a very responsible and health-conscience manner.”
Fulfer went on to add:
“My concern is that this is not just about 3 weeks, or even 3 months, but rather the fact that if we continue the way we have been going, with no comprehensive plan for our future, we may well kill off businesses to such an extent that it may take years for parts of our economy to recover. That is unacceptable. New Mexicans deserve better.”
“Work with us, Governor Grisham. Not against us.”
